ABOUT US

Coloreado’s mission is to eliminate illiteracy and sub-literacy for Colorado’s students through exceptional alliances and state of the art instruction.

The gift of literacy is the great equalizer of our time, without it our neighbors face economic, social and political isolation, resulting in a high correlation to incarceration and dependence on public assistance. Like states across the country, Colorado suffers from chronic sub-literacy as a result of educational resource decisions, ineffective techniques and improperly trained educators.

Shari Most is a literacy expert and the founder of Coloreado, an initiative dedicated to eliminating illiteracy and sub-literacy across Colorado. She holds a Master’s in Elementary Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Reading from the MGH Institute of Health Professions — a premier institution for literacy research and training.

Shari began her 20 year career as a literacy specialist in Massachusetts before moving to Colorado, where she has helped dozens of children with dyslexia learn to read. Her early work centered on the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach, but over time she became increasingly compelled by the latest reading science and the need for faster, more effective solutions.

Today, she is a leading advocate for the Speech-to-Print approach and Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI), which she believes represent the future of reading education—grounded in brain science, not tradition. Through Coloreado, Shari is building powerful alliances that bring cutting-edge instruction to educators, families, and students, working to ensure that every child in Colorado has the opportunity to become a proficient and confident reader.

East High School students: Robert, Emily and Jay’lah.

“I like EBLI because it’s a good program and helps me with my reading. Miss Shari is a good teacher and she helps me with my reading.” Robert, age 15.

“EBLI is a wonderful program that helps people who struggle to read and write. I’ve only been in EBLI for a few months and I feel that I made more progress in my reading and writing than I have over the years. I feel that younger kids and others should have an opportunity to learn from Miss Shari and this program. Especially younger children because their brains are not fully developed and they will be able to learn it faster. Miss Shari is a wonderful teacher and I’m so grateful for her and I hope others can have the opportunity I have.” Emily, age 16.

“I like EBLI because it helped me with my reading and writing and taught me how to learn how to break down words. I feel that other kids should use it. It helps them behave more positively and they will want to go to class every day. I feel that working with Miss Shari helps with that all and also EBLI can help change a lot.” Jay’lah, age 16.
