The Coloreado Model

Coloreado’s dream is to revolutionize the way students are taught to read. Our work will ensure the deployment of the best practices across our state.

In the short term this means directly teaching reading, writing and spelling to students to change their lives and quantitatively demonstrate what works. We currently partner exclusively with community organizations who work directly with youth. Together, we invest in training and mentoring Apprentice Tutors in Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI). These tutors work directly with students who struggle with literacy.

After demonstrating this effectiveness, ColoREADo will then secure funding to offer intervention teachers throughout the state the opportunity to apply for and train with ColoREADo.

At ColoREADo we believe all children can learn to read and write. Our ambition is enormous. Join our movement.

Coloreado’s Instructional Method: Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI)

Coloreado uses EBLI for all programming. EBLI was developed to incorporate the research of both how we learn and how we learn to read, making it incredibly effective for expediting learning for students at all ages, grades and levels. EBLI uses a systematic and interactive approach to simultaneously teach reading, writing and spelling. EBLI is logical, appealing to educators and engaging for students.

EBLI is unique because it:

  • leads to fast gains which increase student confidence
  • is inclusive for all learners
  • is flexible to implement 1:1, in small groups or whole class
  • can be taught by anyone
